NEWPORT IS HOME. For John Walker, Newport isn’t just where he lives, it’s where his story began and where he’s chosen to build his future. A lifelong Newport resident, John is a husband, father of five, and commercial fisherman with deep roots in the community. Today, he and his wife are raising their family here, with their children attending all Newport Public Schools. John knows Newport from the perspective of someone who has grown up here, worked here, and is now raising the next generation here. He understands both what makes this city special and the everyday challenges facing the people who call it home. His connection to Newport isn’t political, it’s personal. This is his hometown, his community, and his family’s future. His roots are in Newport. So is his future.
